Well what a weekend that was. 40 entries created the need to have 2 venues so we had 32 pairs at Pukekohe and 8 at Manurewa. There was a need to create sections as we cannot access the indoor rinks until midday at Pukekohe.

Sections 1 and 2 commenced at 9.15am at Pukekohe with Sections 3 and 4 starting at noon. Section 5 had a 9am start at Manurewa.

The threatening rain finally arrived and almost scuttled the outside play for Sections 1 and 2 in the afternoon but the bell had play finishing when the slowest team had completed the required minimum of 6 ends.

Section 5 battled through a lower intensity rainfall to complete their 3 games.

24 teams qualified for post-section play on Sunday which was held inside due to the TD not wanting a repeat of Saturdays efforts.

And so 16 teams started the round of 32 at 9 am with the winners playing each other in the round of 16. The 8 bye teams joined in to fill up the 8 rinks at Pukekohe.

The quarter finals finished at 5pm and it was decided to not proceed with any more bowls that day and work out semifinals ASAP.

The first semifinal will take place at Pukekohe Indoor green at 6 pm this Thursday 19th September.
