CBM - Pairs - match report

Sunday 15th November, the finals day of the 2020 Open Pairs was played at Clarks Beach on a beautiful sunny day with the fantastic Dick Carter as umpire.


In women’s quarter finals, two Papakura teams played one another with Temple & Hall conceding the game against Bolscher & Poulsen (21-9). Hayward & Mason from Hunua beat Pukekohe (15-14), in a close game against Renall & Welch. Hunia & Eagleton beat their fellow Papakura team, Davies & Tawharu (22-7). Pukekohe’s Tilyard &Larsen played Manurewa’s Forrest & Jackison, winning (18-7).


In the men’s quarter finals, Ballard & Michelsen from Buckland conceded to Stanaway & Teritaiti, two young bowlers from Homai. Manurewa team, Clark & Andrew, beat Clarks Beach’s McGregor & Maher (22-1). Morgan & Lim from Papakura won against Manurewa’s Drabble & Howe (18-15). Pennall & Parker from Pukekohe played Hunua’s Smith & Chesham, winning (20-12).


In the women’s semi-finals, A close game with Bolscher & Poulsen from Papakura, against Hunua’s Hayward & Mason, resulting in the Hunua team winning (16-14). The Papakura team beat Tilyard & Larson from Pukekohe (19-6).


In the men’s semi-finals, Stanaway and Teritaiti from Homai played against Manurewa’s Clark & Andrew, with the Homai team winning (19-16). Papakura’s, Morgan & Lim, played an increadlably close game against Pukekohe’s Pennall & Parker, having to play two extra ends, one being a tie breaker and the other after the jack was killed. In the end, Morgan & Lim won (15-14), with the result coming down to the final bowl.


In the women’s final, Hayward & Mason played Hunia & Eagleton in an intense game with teams going back and forth to be on top. On the 18th end the teams were tied (13-13). An extra end was played, with Hunia and Eagleton taking the win (15-13).


In the men’s final, Stanaway & Teritaiti played Morgan & Lim. A hard game for the Homai boys with the Papakura team ahead from the beginning. The boys almost made a come back but Morgan & Lim took the win (18-9). All the teams played incredibly well.
