Poulsen and Andrews triumph in Counties 2x4x2 final

In a hard fought final, Leeane Poulsen and Roger Andrews came through to win the Bowls Counties Manukau 2x4x2 Mixed Pairs at Pukekohe Bowling Club.

Leeane & Roger went into the final like their opponents Bryn Morgan and Les Eagleton (Papakura), undefeated in the tournament. Both teams played extremely good bowls over the entire weekend.

On the Sunday Poulsen beat Jim Ballard & Liz Prattley (Buckland) 8-6 in the quarter final and Brody Dix & Angela Temple (Papakura) 14-11 in the semi, to book a finals spot.

While on the other side of the draw, Morgan & Eagleton went up against Ken Michelsen & Diane Main (Buckland) in their quarter final, winning 12-7 and then went on to defeat Del & Cindy Henley (Pukekohe) in the semi, 15-9.

The final was a seesaw affair with both teams going point for point right up until the twelfth and final end where Les Eagleton with her last bowl and leading by two on the scoreboard but down three on the head managed to nudge one of their opponents bowls out, to save one shot and force a tie break end.

Like the rest of the game, it was a close end but finally Poulsen and Andrews came through to take the end and win the final by 2 shots, 14-12.
